Youth Work Camp 2017
The 2017 Work Camp Mission trip to San Marcos, Texas was a HUGE success!!

Penny's Monday Moments:
11/13/2017
Good afternoon.  What a great group of youth yesterday during Sunday School!  We continued to look at peer pressure and how sometimes it overrides what we know God would want or not want us to do.  Encourage your youth to come and be a part of the discussion!

This week at Wesley:

November 15:  Youth Gathering at 6:00 - We will hang out at Wesley.  There is a very small possibility they may need additional hands to help double pack buddy packs for Thanksgiving but I won't know until probably tomorrow.  I will email if they need us!

November 17 – Attend JCHS “Seussical The Musical” - So far I have Katie, Brooke and Grace and Pastor Tom!  Do other's want to go?  Please let me know by Wednesday evening!  We will meet at Wesley at 5:30 so go over for the 6:00 show.  Cost will be paid for with youth funds.

November 22 – Assist with Pie Baking Sales
 - Pies can be picked up starting at 1:00 so if I have a couple volunteers for 1:00-2:30 and then some for 2:30-4:00.  We will then go see the movie "Wonder".  It is rated PG and has a very powerful message.  We will grab some pizza after the movie and head back to Wesley around 8:00.   Cost of youth in grades 6-12 will be covered for the movie and pizza.   They will need to buy their own soda/popcorn/snacks at the movie.  If other family members want to join us you are welcome as well but you will need to purchase your tickets.  Please let me know who can help with the pies and who wants to go to the movies!  I do need another adult as well!

WOW - January 20-21 - Springfield, MO - Registration for WOW DUE NOW!.  Cost to the youth is $20 with the remainder paid with youth funds.  After November 15 the cost to youth goes up to $30.  We will travel to Springfield Saturday morning and be home around 4:00 on Sunday.  Abby Peper's youth may be joining us on the ride and she is working on securing a place to stay at a local church.  I do need an adult male since we have one male youth.  So far I have Jaden, Stella, Isabel and Oscar.  Is there anyone else interested going?

Sunday School Helpers - I forgot to talk to the youth yesterday.  Angie Vogel said they have enough adults to help with children's SS now but if the youth want to continue to help they will be happy to have them help.  So check with your youth and if they want to keep helping, please let me know!
November 19 - Jaden
November 26 - Judy

PLEASE let me know about what your youth is interested in participating in!!  Have a great week!

Good afternoon.  These Mondays roll around way too fast!

We had a small group of youth that helped put up the Christmas tree for Wesley adopting the family from Coyote Hill.  There are several things on the list that are pretty costly for the older youth there.  We know how that is, once they get beyond the little toy stage!  The family wants a ping pong table and so Marty Spann purchased one through Dick's that was half price.  I think it would be great for the youth to go in on that for the family.  We have funds available in our restricted account (we have had several generous monetary gifts this year).  I will be talking to them about this in the next few weeks.  A couple of the boys also want Xbox 360s which Coyote Hill said they could be refurbished.  Does anyone have one laying around their house that works good and maybe the original box?  Just checking  😉!

Here's what's going on for the week and beyond:

November 8 – Buddy Packs -  PLEASE encourage your youth to help!  I do need adults as well!  Let me know if your youth will just meet us at the packing place!
November 11 – Faith and Disney: The Little Mermaid Movie Night/Study -  6:00 - This can be a family affair!  Bring a favorite snack to share!  Please let me know who plans to come to this.
November 15 & 29 - Youth Gathering
November 17 – Attend JCHS “Seussical The Musical” - So far I have only heard from one youth (Katie) and Suzy said Pastor Tom could help!  Do other's want to go as a group?  Please let me know!
November 22 – Assist with Pie Baking Sales - More details to come.

The movie "Wonder" is also coming out soon.  I would like to take the youth to see this movie.  It is rated PG and has a very powerful message.  Check out the trailer on YouTube.  I'm thinking we could possibly go on Wednesday, November 22, to the 4:15 show if we could get someone to be there for about an hour with the pie sales.  Thoughts?

In addition - just a reminder that several of the youth agreed to help with the Children's Sunday School program.  Jacquie had talked to several about this one Sunday.  If your youth is not listed but would like to assist, please let Jacquie know.  Also if they CANNOT fulfill their Sunday, they need to let Jacquie know that as well.
November 12 - Miranda
November 19 - Jaden
November 26 - Judy

WOW - January 20-21 - Springfield, MO - Registration for WOW is due November 12.  Cost to the youth is $20 with the remainder paid with youth funds.  After November 12 the cost to youth goes up to $30.  We will travel to Springfield Saturday morning and be home around 4:00 on Sunday.  Abby Peper's youth may be joining us on the ride and she is working on securing a place to stay at a local church.  I do need a 2nd adult to make this trip happen.

I will also be sending out a couple more emails regarding Work Camp 2018 and Confirmation 2018 this week.
Please keep Steve and Karen Tucker in your prayers for their mission trip to Guatemala.  Prayers for safe travels and for God to work in and through them to bless the people God puts in their paths!

Have a blessed week!

Good morning.  What a great weekend we had at YouthFest/Festival of Sharing!  The girls worked REALLY  hard and when we left we had tired bodies but a feeling of great accomplishment as well!!  A HUGE thank you to Ashley Halford for stepping in very last minute after I got a call about Libby having a medical issue in Springfield that I needed to be there for her Friday afternoon/evening.  Another HUGE thank you to Michelle Harper for taking the lead and helping me out so much to make sure the trip went as planned!!  I really appreciate their willing/servant hearts!!

Yesterday we had a great group of youth and parents to help decorate for our Special Learning Center Fall Party this Wednesday.  Several youth cannot be there on Wednesday but were able to help out yesterday which was great!  I would like all the youth to be there as soon as they can be on Wednesday so we can finish up last minute details.  The party will be from 6:00-7:30 and then we will have to clean up.  So we are hoping to be done by 8:00.

This is the final list of who is bringing what for your response to me.  Also remember to bring a bag of candy if you have not done so.

Meat/Cheese Tray - I will get these.
Crackers:  1 Box Saltine Crackers – Vogel’s
1 Box Ritz Crackers (or similar) – Vogel’s
Celery (cut into sticks):  Halford’s
Carrots (cut into sticks):  Halford’s
Grapes (taken off the stems):  Megan Shadrick
Strawberries:  Phillip’s
Bananas:  Marshall’s
Apples & Dip:  Phillip’s
2 Dozen Cookies:  Gier’s
2 Dozen Cookies:  Vansant’s
2 Dozen Cookies:  Marshall’s
2 Dozen Cookies:  Thompson’s
Cups/Plates and Veggie Dip:  Harper’s

This is a great time to offer hospitality to those families that we have the opportunity to meet and spend time with their awesome kids!  Hope your youth can be there for this!

GO-KARTS at the Gier's - Due to several factors, we are cancelling this.  This is a wonderful opportunity for our families but one that takes a lot of work on the Gier's part.  So we hope to plan one in the spring when more youth and families will take the opportunity to have a fun time and get some country air!!  A special thanks to Art and Barb for always offering us this opportunity.

Upcoming Calendar:
November 1-15-29 – Youth Gathering
November 8 – Buddy Packs
November 11 – Faith and Disney: The Little Mermaid Movie Night/Study

That's all for this week!  Let me know if you can help out with what's left on the party needs and about Go-Karts!!  Have a great week!
